How do I find or recover my existing USI?

If the USI Registry says you already have a USI, recover it directly via the USI website. The USI Registry manages all USI records and is the only place a USI can be looked up.

A Unique Student Identifier (USI) is permanent and unique to you. If the USI Registry tells you that a USI already exists for your details (and you do not recall creating one), it usually means you applied for a USI in the past, possibly for an earlier course or training program.

USI records are managed by the USI Registry, not by us. To recover your existing USI:

  1. Go to the USI Website.

  2. Follow the identity verification steps (typically using your name, date of birth, and a form of identity document).

  3. If the verification steps do not work, contact the USI Registry directly: phone 1300 857 536 (Mon to Fri, business hours, AEST), or use the contact form on the USI Website.

Once you have your USI, add it to your enrolment via the Student Registration step on your course page and continue as normal.
