I already have Food Safety Supervisor units from another qualification. Do I still need to complete the course?

If you've completed FSS units at another RTO, you may not need to repeat them. Contact InstaCert with your Statement of Attainment to discuss.

You should verify the following to determine if you still need to complete the training:

  1. Check your Statement of Attainment (SOA) or Testamur from your previous qualification. If the units of competency listed on your current SOA don't match the units of competency listed on our course page, you will probably need to take the course.

  2. Check the date on your Statement of Attainment. You must hold a certificate that's been obtained within the last 5 years. If your certificate was issued longer than 5 years ago, you will need to re-do the training.

  3. If you're in NSW, there are additional requirements to be aware of:

    • The Registered Training Organisation (RTO) must be on the NSW Food Authority approved list. InstaCert (RTO 41127) is an approved provider on this list, although it may be listed under alternate trading names.

    • The NSW Food Authority requires Food Safety Supervisors to complete both required hospitality units of competency with the same provider to obtain or renew a Food Safety Supervisor certificate.

    • From 1 March 2026, the Food Safety Supervisor (Level 2) course is only applicable to students who have previously completed SITXFSA005 – Use hygienic practices for food safety with Food Safety First. Completion of SITXFSA005 with another provider, or through credit transfer or Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), is not sufficient for NSW Food Safety Supervisor certification purposes.
